East Coast Over 40's

Port Macquarie Kart Club was well represented at the East Coast Over 40's Titles over the June long week-end at Coffs Harbour Go Kart track.

There were 221 entries at the event which drew entrants from Queensland and Victoria as well as all around NSW.

The competitors from Port Macquarie included Dennis Tyrrell, Allan Smith, Tracy Stewart Robert Brown (Brownie) Kyll Goodsell and Shane Cavanagh.

All were very competitive in their classes with most classes having at least 15 or more entrants.

Tracy Stewart finished 2nd in his Rotax Super Heavy class and 9th in Clubman Super Heavy, while Kyll Goodsell, who only started racing in February of this year, came 12th in a field of 22 in his class National Heavy.

In Rotax Heavy, Shane Cavanagh, whose previous race was the Over 40's last year, came in 3rd while Allan Smith finished 7th. Brownie competed in both Rotax Super Heavy and Clubman Super Heavy coming in 8th and 14th respectively, while Dennis Tyrrell, who had some good results in the heats, came 9th in his class, Rotax Heavy 50 years and over.

The Port Macquarie Club has their home track at Pacific Parkway where race meetings are held each month. Anyone can compete from the age of seven to some competitors being over 60. Everyone who does compete in the sport can assure you that it is a great activity to be involved in.

The next race meeting will be 17th July at the track and on the 12th December there will be a Come and Try day for those who would like to experience a few laps in a competition kart and maybe get hooked onto this adrenalin charged sport.
